Suffered from a STROKE or TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY? Give these a TRY....

WATCH AND LISTEN
Encourage the person with aphasia to watch your mouth movements when pronouncing a word;
'ball'
PRESENT
A picture or object of a 'ball'
WRITE DOWN
The word 'ball'
SHOW
The 'ball' in motion
MAKE A SENTENCE WITH THE WORD 'BALL'
'You throw a.... (the aim here is for the person with aphasia to finish the sentence using the word 'ball').
GAP FILLING- encourage written completion of the word 'ball'
'b_ll'
WORD PAIRS
Say 'Knife and.....( the person with aphasia should say 'fork')
Show associated objects and pictures to support understanding, and pronounce the first sound of the word 'fork' to assist if needed.
Say 'Paper and... (the person with aphasia should say 'pen')
Show associated objects and pictures to support understanding, and pronounce the first sound of the word 'pen' to assist if needed.
